Welcome to our class website! Here you will find information about our school and class, announcements, class calendar, a class blog, homework, and more!
Here are some things we do in our class!
AVID: Makalapa Elementary School is taking part in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. We are all striving to prepare students to be college and career ready. At the second grade level, we are teaching the students how to organize their things and thoughts, as well as set goals so that they at succeed in life.
Moolah System: We have a "moolah" system. It is very similar to the U.S. currency. Students will receive tickets, "moolah," for appropriate behavior. If students do something that is inappropriate, they will be given a GLO ticket, which tells students what they did and how much "moolah" they owe the teacher. Students will be rewarded by being able to buy things in the class store with their "moolah."
Chromebooks: We are one-to-one with Chromebook Laptops! Each student has their own Chromebook and Google account. Students will learn how to type, create and turn in assignments online, create projects, give presentations, read books online, and more. It is so exciting to see students using technology in the classroom and watch as the students become prepared for the future!
Seesaw: On Seesaw, the students share their work with their parents. As parents, you get to immediately see the students work, announcements, pictures that your child sends to you, notes from the teacher and notes from the students. It is a great way to stay in touch with your child as they are in school. We will be using Seesaw as our class website.
